Dr. Gary
T. Taylor
Shifting mindsets, building leaders, and creating culturally honest conversations that stay with people long after they leave the room.
Words That Move People. Ideas That Last.
Dr. Gary T. Taylor — known as Trey — is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Doctor of Social Work, keynote speaker, and Assistant Professor at Virginia State University. He brings over 12 years of clinical, community, and academic experience to every stage he steps on.
His work sits at the intersection of mental health, cultural humility, Black men's well-being, and organizational leadership. Audiences don't just learn from Dr. Taylor — they leave with language for things they felt but couldn't name, and a clear sense of what to do differently.
Every Room Gets
the Real Conversation.
Each topic is rooted in clinical practice, doctoral research, and lived experience — tailored for corporate, academic, clinical, or community audiences.
A clinically grounded, culturally honest examination of the barriers Black men face in accessing care — and what organizations and practitioners can do differently.
Moving beyond cultural competence into a self-first orientation that produces better outcomes across healthcare, education, and corporate environments.
A clinician's take on burnout — honest about its structural causes and practical about recovery. Built for HR leaders, executives, and mission-driven organizations.
A practitioner's framework for faculty, advisors, and student affairs professionals on trust, psychological safety, and belonging for Black male college students.
A practice-grounded introduction to intersectionality theory and what it actually requires of leaders — not as a DEI checkbox, but as a discipline for better decisions.
The community-based story behind a model for non-clinical, peer-supported spaces where Black men can speak honestly about brotherhood, identity, and mental health.
“Black men deserve to be healthy and mentally well. They are unable to find peace or solace in systems where they cannot be valued, seen, and deemed worthy of help.”
